Arugam Bay is a laid-back beach town on the southeast coast of Sri Lanka, renowned for offering some of the best surfing conditions in South Asia. The sandy bay is backed by palm trees, lagoons, and mangroves that host a variety of bird species and wildlife. In the dry season, visitors can venture to nearby Muhudu Maha Viharaya temple ruins, explore local fishing villages, or relax at beachfront cafes serving coconut curries and chilled palm toddy.
